Illustrated Mixed Media Collages

Songs in Distress

The Golden-cheeked Warbler (Dendroica chrysoparia) is one of three endangered Texas songbirds. These tiny miracles build nests of Ash Juniper bark intricately woven with spider webs. As the human population has expanded, the range of suitable habitat has been cut short. These birds depend on the Texas Landscape for survival: The birds fly into our state in March to raise their young before flying down to Mexico for the winter. Without suitable habitat, the Golden-cheeked Warbler may be lost. It is our responsibility to protect the species, as we are stewards over our great homelands.
